SW Idaho AHEC is committed to bolstering the support system for healthcare professionals in Idaho through diverse avenues. Engage with us on our social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, where we foster learning and connections. Stay informed about our partners’ latest developments through Frontier Footnotes, our comprehensive monthly newsletter distributed statewide. Collaborating with various organizations, we facilitate continuing education opportunities, striving to bridge healthcare professionals with communities for meaningful connections.

Continuing Medical Education

Continuing EducationĀ is one of three primary focus areas in our work, along with educating youth about health careers through our health career pathways programming and enhancing the academic pathways and preparation of health profession students through our nationally certified AHEC Scholar program.

SW ID AHEC’s Continuing Education Series offers 12 virtual learning activities for practicing physicians, residents, fellows, medical students and allied health professionals aimed at developing the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide quality and safe team-based primary care to patients, particularly those in medically underserved communities.

Teach and Inspire

Practicing healthcare professionals have impactful opportunities to shape the future of the industry. By guest speaking at our Orientation to Health Careers program, they have the chance to share insights with aspiring individuals. Mentoring high school students inspires the next generation, fostering passion – mentoring opportunities are available on an irregularly basis, please contact us to see what is currently available. Volunteering as preceptors at programs like WWAMI RUOP provides hands-on education in diverse healthcare settings for future physicians. These efforts not only enrich learning experiences but also strengthen the overall healthcare community.

Physician Vitality

Physician Vitality efforts in our state are ever evolving thanks to our dedicated partners. Ada County Medical Society’s Physician Vitality Program provides confidential access to mental health providers for licensed medical association members. The Idaho coalition of Physician Vitality champions promote the National Charter on Physician Well-Being (NCPW) as a local aspirational standard for the greater SW Idaho medical community.
