INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION
The Orientation to Health Careers program provides a unique and invaluable introduction to diverse health careers to high school students. We believe that exposure to healthcare professionals and facilities within their own communities can be a transformative experience for participants, fostering a deeper understanding of the vital roles played by individuals in the healthcare sector. Guest speaking in an OHC program is not only an opportunity to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals but also a chance to contribute to the development of talent in underserved areas. We have seamlessly adapted our program to virtual environments, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring healthcare professionals, regardless of their geographical location. If you are available and interested in being a part of this transformative initiative, please contact Katrina, khoff@jannus.org.
The Rural Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP) is a four-week, elective immersion experience in community medicine for students between their first and second years of medical school. During their 4-week rotation, students live in rural or urban under-resourced communities throughout Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WWAMI). They work side-by-side with local physicians providing health care to underserved populations. Volunteer preceptors are exemplary community physicians with a strong interest in introducing students to the joys and challenges of providing care to rural and urban-underserved populations. If you are interested in becoming a RUOP preceptor, please email the Office of Rural Programs at somrural@uw.edu.
